2021 Movia Pinot Grigio, Goriška Brda, Slovenia

2021 Movia Pinot Grigio, Goriška Brda, Slovenia

ABOUT THE WINE
Harvested from organically farmed vineyards on the steep, sun-drenched slopes of Goriška Brda, this Pinot Grigio undergoes short skin maceration, which imparts its signature copper-pink hue and a gentle tannic frame. Fermentation with native yeasts occurs spontaneously in large oak barrels, followed by aging on the lees without fining or filtration. The result is a textured, aromatic expression of Pinot Grigio that leans toward the savory and contemplative. Notes of blood orange, quince, herbal tea, and subtle almond unfold with air, carried by vibrant acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish. This wine pairs beautifully with charcuterie, roasted poultry, or richly spiced vegetarian dishes.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Movia is a historic estate in Goriška Brda with winemaking roots dating back over two centuries. Today, it is led by Aleš Kristančič, a visionary winemaker known for pushing the boundaries of traditional winemaking while honoring the natural rhythms of his land. The estate practices biodynamic agriculture and low-intervention cellar techniques, with a focus on authenticity and expressive terroir. Movia’s wines, from sparkling to skin-contact whites, are consistently unconventional, soulful, and grounded in the traditions of the Brda hills—a borderland where Slovenian heritage meets Friulian finesse.
